THE TRUE SPIRIT OF RAMADHAN

In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Compassionate.

*"The most honoured by Allah amongst you are those best in taqwa**." * (Al
Hujurat 49:13)

Ramadhan and its promises once again beckon us, Insha Allah. Promises of
Mercy, Blessings, Forgiveness, Jannah resonate in this month of intense
Ibadah, steadfastness, patience, solidarity. The month of Taqwa shall soon
be upon us, Insha Allah.

Ramadhan this year brings the added challenge of rising costs and the

Hadis Palsu Rejab, Syaaban - Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin

State of Grassroots Football in Malaysia

amirsoffian's picture

Not to flog a dead horse but I just wanted to share some experience what with the brouhaha re. football in Malaysia and hopefully hear from you out there.

My 11 year old son is an avid football player and I watch all his school team & club (First Touch) matches barring any serious scheduling conflict.

I have observed a few things that may explain why football will not get anywhere in Malaysia in its current state.

LESSONS FROM QURAN 1 - QARUN AND HIS WEALTH

amirsoffian's picture

I recently heard a very good talk on Qarun. This was taken from the holy book, Surah Al Qasas ayat 76 to 82.

Qarun, as you recall, lived during the time of Nabi Musa as. Indeed he was of the Bani Israel. He was a very wealthy man and it is said, as per 28:76, that the keys to his treasures alone would have been a burden to a body of strong men! Alas, he was an insolent man and he was swallowed by the earth and non of his so called followers could help him.

Kenapa Ceramah Ini?

Betapa berat mata memandang, berat lagi bahu memikul.

Police announce world tour plans

The tour follows the band's reunion more than 20 years after they split
Rock group The Police have announced plans to launch a world tour in May, more than 20 years after recording their last studio album.
Lead singer Sting, 55, told a news conference that he was "certifiably insane" to resurrect the band.

The tour will kick off in North America and is expected to take in South America, Europe, Japan and New Zealand.

The band will play in Vancouver, Canada, on 28 May, the first venue announced for North America so far.

Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland, 54, and guitarist Andy Summers, 64, held the press conference at the Whisky A Go Go nightclub in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, on Monday, the day after the band reformed for a performance at the Grammy Awards.

Education in Malaysia: A Question on MCKK

amirsoffian's picture

I came across this blog written a few days ago at

educationinmalaysia.blogspot.com

on national schools and national unity.

The writer went to school in PJ (LaSalle in the late 80s thru to the 90s before leaving for Singapore (upper secondary). The blogger also made several references of MCKK and its alumnus. Excerpt:

Many of the smart Malay kids at the primary level left the system at the secondary level for a variety of reasons. Some went to on to study at the prestigious MCKK (which is open only to Malay students, as far as I know) or other boarding schools which were open mostly to Malays only or they went overseas, usually to boarding schools in the UK (either on government scholarships or father/mother sponsorship or a mixture of both) and elsewhere.
