Customer Feedback - Texting the Business Owner (Report)
Submitted by MD.Kingtho on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 2:01pm.After my posting Texted the Business Owner, I visited the stall again last Sunday (17 February 2008). This time the workers at the stall are using forks to place the kuihs in the plastic bags. Hopefully, the process does not add anymore germ to my keria.

Customer Feedback - Texting the Business Owner
Submitted by MD.Kingtho on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:50pm.I was at the market Sunday before last and stopped by the "kuih" stall. The owner had instructed the workers to use the thin clear plastic glove to handle the kuih so that they are not contaminated. I like that attitude, because that's the proper way to handle food. (1) We can never be to sure that you are even half as hygienic as us; and (2) food would last longer.

Service in Restaurants
Submitted by MD.Kingtho on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:49pm.Earlier, I touched on table manners.
The reason I am writing here is simply because this is my town. It may not get to the people who did the things I refer in my page, but who knows, some body will benefit.
Often times, we assume that people know how to do certain work. I am sure that today, a lot of people assume that it is easy to be a clerk, no, secretary. But we will leave that for another day.

Table Manners
Submitted by MD.Kingtho on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:46pm.Somehow, it is exasperating to enjoy a meal when your dining partner lacks etiquette. Whilst we purport that Malays are cultured, it is hardly true when we see this in everyday life. Hard to believe, right but that's the truth. I have a strange feeling that some where in our youths, we suddenly lose what we were taught of when we were smaller, if it was ever taught.

The Day I Met Mr Hargreave Jr
Submitted by sulaiman m ibrahim on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 5:12am.Sometime in 1990's I landed at the Los Angeles Airport in transit to Lafayette to visit the Catterpilar Factory . So I boarded a limousine [more like a luxurious full size van] from LAX to take me to a hotel on the outskirts of the city. On this long journey the driver was actually happy that my entourage came from Malaysia. He said that his father used to be a head of a university in Penang. He could not remember the name of the University but upon my insistence to know who his illustious father was , he gave his business card on which was printed ...Hargreave.
SCENE & SEEN: The (maroon) ties that bind
Submitted by Camus on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 12:33pm.http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2008/2/17/lifefocus/2031...
By MANSOR TUN ABDUL AZIZ (MCKK Class of '82)
From social science classes to social soirees, MCKK and TKC alumni flirt and flit about the society scene.
AT the launch of Tun Mahathir’s book in Putrajaya recently, Datuk Seri Megat Najmuddin Khas – respected corporate figure, stalwart of the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance and in this instance, a humble guest at the breakfast event – had a good laugh when a reporter asked about the ubiquitous maroon necktie sported by him and several other guests, including Tan Sri Abdullah Ahmad, the co-author of the aforementioned book.
At another event across the globe, I was approached by a Hermes-clad accountant in a quiet tea room in London, inquiring if I had once studied at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK).
“You were my junior,” he said, “and we used to fight over the piano behind Hargreaves Hall, remember?”
Ironically, I was not even wearing anything maroon at that point in time.

MCKK alumni – whether they are reminiscing over a hole-in-one at KLGCC or hopelessly lost in Outer Mongolia – just seem to have that je ne sais quoi that makes them stand out from the rest.
“I think it is that maturity which we picked up during our formative years,” said top MAA executive Helmy Had Sabtu over cigars one afternoon.
“Residential schools, elite or otherwise, seem to accelerate mental development as we are surrounded by our peers, 24/7,” the 43-year-old reasoned.
“The need to conform, contradict and co-exist is constantly there while the bonds developed between us remain intact for a lifetime,” added lawyer Harmy Yusof, Helmy’s batch mate and tennis partner at the Royal Lake Club in Kuala Lumpur.
