Actually 1988 or 1989. Dolah of Kok Lanas and Bakaq Panjang of Kuala Perlis would confirm. I also attended the function and remember the two of them were also participants.
Howell also came a few years earlier when S Abu Bakar Barakbah was HeadMaster. I remember attending the banquet,complete with bagpipers at the Senior Oficers' Mess, Bluff Road (now Jln Bkt Aman) given in Howell's honour by the then IGP Haniff Omar.
Haniff had been picked by Howell to become Headboy (1955-56)succeeding Ibrahim MZ Ariffin aka Berahim Musang. Evidently Howell had already known that Haniff was a 'policeman' as early as 1955, some six years before he became one.
