A few years ago I threw away my glasses (multifocal: short-sightedness, reading and astigmatism) after "stumbling" upon a natural way of correcting my eyesight.
The answer: a cocktail of freshly-made fruit juices consisting primarily of carrot, combined with beetroot, apple, celery, pear, star fruit and guava (jambu batu). This fruit juice is not only good for your eyesight but is also beneficial in many aspects as it is believed to reduce the risks of high cholestrol, high blood pressure, and even the incidence of cancer. You have to combine this with regular daily exercises such as jogging, brisk walking, swimming or cycling to gain the maximum out of it.
Refrain from adding anything to the juice (such as sugar or salt), not even water. Use a good juice extractor, not a blender. Also, clean the skin of the fruits first with running water before immersing them into the juice extractor. Some may prefer to peel off the skin of the carrot first, but it's really not necessary so long it's clean.
Some points to note:
1. Invest in a good electric juicer such as Kenwood, Panasonic etc. Make and drink this juice every morning as part of or as your breakfast.
2. Exercise your eyes regularly without using glasses, gradually, maybe initially a few minutes watching TV without glasses, increasing a few minutes each day. Graduate to a few minutes of driving without glasses, first in the daytime and later at night. Try to read books and newspapers without glasses for a few minutes first, and gradually increasing to an hour or so.
3. All these eye exercises should be done in a gradual manner, lasting over a few months.
4. Insya Allah, after maybe after four or five months you will notice the difference and may not need glasses anymore.
I was told that when we reach older, our shortsightedness (myopic vision) tends to improve. If we augment this with carrot juice the effect can be quickened.
My "treatment" took about 6 months, and for 4 or 5 years after that I didn't have to wear glasses, even for reading and driving at night. I had been wearing glasses since 1964.
About a year ago I stopped drinking carrot juice just to see the effect. True enough, my eyesight did a turnaround and I had to don glasses again. So now I am commencing my carrot juice regime again, and after just a couple of weeks I can feel its efficacy.
At my age (58), it is not possible to have perfect vision but I can get by without glasses. In fact I can read, watch TV and even drive better without glasses since my glasses are multi-focal whose effective focal lengths depend on the angle of incidence.
As for carrots, they contain beta-carotene (the orangeish colour) that can improve our eyesight. If we just eat the carrots, only about 5% of the beta-carotene present in the carrot will be made available to us, but if we juice it we can get as high as 95% of the beta-carotene present in the carrot. This means you get sufficient beta-carotene daily merely by juicing 2 or 3 carrots, as opposed to eating a few kilos of carrots daily (an superhuman feat) to get the same amount. The positive effects on our eyesight of the beta-carotene present in carrots are quite well-known in medical circles.
